Trikeratos

RedBubble Stuff by Scott -

by cubelight

Trikeratos, product of biology and technology. If someone asked me what it meant, I suppose I’d say, “a fanciful expression of how technology can illuminate details of the distant past.”

But no one ever asks me that.

(A sequel, A Gloom of Duralumin Dragons, is here: http://www.redbubble.com/people/cubelight/works... )

The skeleton for this piece is based on photos taken of the Triceratops mount at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History (I was attending SVP in 2008, and had the opportunity to take lots of photo reference).

Tarbosaurus bataar

My mimicry of Warhol. Of course, instead of Marilyn as a subject, I chose to do the Tyrannosaurid _Tarbosaurus bataar_. Originally in color pencil, with color in Photoshop.

As featured on Boing Boing back in October 2011, this is the completed front piece for the Dinosaurs and Robots Show we had back in October (and then November) for Modern Dwellers in Anchorage.

Late Night Mesozoic Plants

Creating scenes from deep time requires not only an understanding of the animal life of an era, but plant life as well.

Sketches of Mesezoic-era plants Zamia furfuracea (in purple) from a live specimen and Zingiber officinale from photographs (in green).

Thalattosaurus Head Study

Raven Amos on DeviantArt -

An ancient marine reptile from the Early to Late Triassic era based on John C. Merriam's reconstructions of Thalattosaurus from his 1905 book "The Thalattosauria".

A nearly complete articulated skeleton of a member of this clade was recently found in Southeast Alaska last May.
